The 2016 Finals were another record year.  We had 134 Finalists competing for over $122,000 in cash and prizes awarded over the weekend.  All finalists left with at least $600 in awards again in 2016.  Once again, we allowed the finalists to choose from several of the higher valued items to ensure they received what each valued most.  See below for many of the items awarded.  Special thanks to Danny Fitch for cooking an amazing gumbo for us on Saturday evening.  Appreciation to all members that brought potato salad or dessert.  The 2016 ABRA Sportsmanship Award was given to Shelly Posobiec.  Scarlett Darden, Rhonda Johnson and Pam Denais donated the auction items bringing in the highest bid.  They will receive either a free or discounted membership in 2017.  Fastest barrel time for the weekend was a 15.442 run by Trudy Bulliard on Cals Frosty Socks.  Mylee Buford ran the fastest pole time with a 21.390 on Go Fors Foxy Outlaw.  We hope to see everyone again in 2017.  ABRA is only as good as it's members, so get involved to make it better than ever!

ONLY 15 ARE ALLOWED AT THE FINALS IN EACH CLASS (ALL 8 & UNDER RIDERS WILL RIDE IN THEIR CLASS).  THERE MAY BE SOME THAT WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR THE FINALS OR CHOOSE NOT TO ENTER A CLASS, ALLOWING THOSE BELOW THEM IN THE STANDINGS TO MOVE UP INTO THE TOP 15.  IF A QUALIFIED FINALIST DOES NOT MAKE IT INTO TOP 15 IN A CLASS AFTER MOVING UP , THEY WOULD NEED TO ENTER IN THE OPEN 5D AT THE FINALS.  (ABRA NO LONGER HAS A CONSOLATION CLASS  SINCE THE CREATION OF THE OPEN 5D AT THE FINALS.)  MEMBERS DO NOT NEED TO MAKE 8 SHOWS IN A PARTICULAR CLASS TO QUALIFY.  PARTICIPATING IN 8 SHOWS ALLOWS FINALISTS TO ENTER IN ANY CLASS THEY HAVE POINTS IN AND/OR THE OPEN 5D.  WE WILL HAVE STANDINGS LATER IN THE YEAR, SHOWING THOSE MEMBERS THAT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO QUALIFY FOR THE FINALS LINED THROUGH.  A MEMBER SHOULD ENTER ANY CLASS THEY WISH TO RIDE AT THE FINALS BY THE ENTRY DEADLINE.  IF WE ARE UNABLE TO FIT YOU IN THE CLASS, THE ENTRY FEES WILL BE REFUNDED.  WE WILL NOT HAVE TIME TO CONTACT ANYONE TO OFFER ENTRY INTO A CLASS THEY DID NOT ENTER IN.
